Let’s Celebrate

In a couple of weeks we recognise three of our teachers who have completed their first two years teaching this year. This milestone allows them to apply for full teaching registration. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou, Georgia Skelton, Nina Haig and Chenille Simpson.

Athletics

On Tuesday we held our school Year 3-6 athletics competition here at Frimley school. The weather was perfect for a day of fun. It was overcast and a warm 19 degrees. The children were able to give it their best all day and no one overheated this year. There were a number of stand out students in each year group. The best part was seeing everyone do their best and enjoy the occasion. Thank you to the Whānau Kāhui for their support running the kai tent and to Mr Whippy for being there too. We look forward to our team of athletes going to the inter-school competition next week and for our NE-Y2 athletics day next week.

Please put the following date into your calendar now, Wednesday 11th December at 5:30pm. Contact your child’s class teachers for more information.

Rongohia te Hau Update

A big thank you to all whānau who completed the Rongohia te Hau survey earlier this term. This significant mahi continues to support the BOT as they consider the Strategic vision and plan for our kura, tamariki and whānau.  The survey is collected and collated by Waikato University. I will share some of the findings in our next and final newsletter for 2025.

Swimming 2025

The school pool is now ready for use and opens this week. It is still warming up and things are very busy at the moment. Your child’s teacher will let you know their swimming times. Please ensure that everything is clearly named and your child has a bag to put their wet togs and towel into.

Te Kōrihi Unveiling

The final area of our kura to be named is our Administration block. As you know all our learning space names were unveiled over the past two years, illustrating the Tauparapara Heretaunga ararau, Heretaunga haukū nui, Heretaunga haaro o te kaahu, Heretaunga takoto noa.

The admin block is the final piece of our story. With this there will be an unveiling of a whakairo (carving) that will stand in the office foyer and a number of mahi toi (art work) that tell the story and connection of the admin block name to our Pou, Te Wao Tapu Nui. There has been significant mahi happening to finish the last piece of our kura and we are excited to be able to unveil this on Wednesday 27th November 2024.

We warmly invite whānau and friends to come along and join us on this day. More details will be sent out soon via seesaw.

Te Mātaiaho NZ Curriculum

The final Maths & Statistics and English Curriculum have been published for all kura to access. As a staff, along with all educators in Aotearoa, we engaged in the draft curriculums and shared our feedback with the Ministry. This has contributed to the final published document which we as a staff have been engaging with in preparation for use in 2025. Our staff are prepared and ready with both new curriculums to continue to provide the best teaching and learning programmes for our tamariki in 2025.
